Meet the artists at the 2014 Art Crawl Experience
Saturday night fun in the Downtown Anaheim Arts District
Four times each year, talented artists, community leaders and volunteers join together with restaurants and other local businesses to present the Art Crawl Experience in Downtown Anaheim. The first Art Crawl Experience that took place on February 8, 2014 was a great success and there is no doubt that the three remaining events will also be sure to please.
The Art Crawl Experience is next scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 6pm to 10pm and future 2014 events are set for August 9 and November 8. The Art Crawl Experience takes place on and around the Center Street Promenade. It stretches between Anaheim Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard. More than just an Anaheim event, people travel from all over Orange County to attend this popular gathering.
This is not your run-of-the-mill art walk. Each of these quarterly crawls require a great deal of coordination and planning. As soon as one crawl ends, organizers start to think of ways they can make the next event even better. Get ready for the next experience which will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
May 10 Events
Planning for the second Art Crawl Experience of the year is well under way. While there are always a few surprises, a few exhibits have already been put on the day’s event schedule. Over at Rothick art haus, you will be able to get a look at art inspired by video games. Popcade, presented by the artist cooperative POPzilla, takes a very creative approach to our obsession with video games. Just a short distance away, at the MUZEO, you can see Trash Art, a collection of environmentally friendly art that focuses on sustainability.
Outdoor permanent art fixtures
You must stop along your stroll down the Center Street Promenade to get a closer look at the Coyote Bench, Hammer Clock, and Sinking Canoe, These are just some of the many pieces of public art that are on display year-round in Downtown Anaheim.
Brick and mortar galleries
Large public and smaller private galleries display art created in different mediums with subjects ranging from portraits to landscapes and styles ranging from abstract to classic. In addition to visiting the Rothick art haus and the MUSEO, you be sure to check out the creative works at the Joy Art Gallery, CIM Gallery and Kool Art.
See art on display at local businesses
On this special night, restaurants, bars, and participating establishments get in on the art scene by turning their space into temporary galleries. Even if you don’t drink, don’t be afraid to step in to a bar to check out the cool art.
Indie craft fair
You never know what you will find when you browse from one canvas tent to the next at the Indie craft fair. Artisans show-off their hand-crafted goods and may even create a new piece just for you. Music plays and street performers entertain you in this always festive area of the Art Crawl Experience.
What’s a Saturday night out with friends if you don’t have plenty of good food to eat? You won’t go hungry as there are plenty of area restaurants as well as a bevy of food trucks ready to dish out all types of culinary delights.
When you come
Parking and admission are always free. Get here earlier for the best spots or if you have to park a few blocks away, you can hitch a free ride on the Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) buses. Plenty of artists will be on hand and they all will be very happy if you say hello and ask them about their art.
